AC MILAN
AC Milan or the Rossoneri as they are known to their fans had the most figures released as part of the Italian Superstars range of figures, 11 in total.

This set gave us some superb original first time sculpts many of which have been used again, only the sculpt of goal keeper Rossi has never been released again with the Savicevic being released many years later in the ProStars range, but this was an entirely new sculpt.

Liberian international George Weah was released for the first time and what a figure it was, he has the honour as being SER001 making him the 1st release for this superb range.

There was a vast amount of Italian internationals included and there some darn fine sculpts amongst them, with legend Roberto Baggio being the pick of them and came sculpted with his trademark ponytail, complete with red hair tie.

Also released were some of the best defenders Italy have ever produced. Maldini and Baresi were names to strike fear into any attacker and Corinthian released them in the colours of AC Milan where they spent their entire careers. Costacurta and Albertini were also released for the first time and both spent the majority of their careers at this club and both were finely sculpted by Corinthian.

Two French internationals also joined in on this release, those two being marksmen Dugarry and no-nonsense defender Desailly. The Desailly figure is one of my all time favourite sculpts as it features a lot of detail and conveys a lot of emotion and perfectly captures the players personality. Both Deasilly and Dugarry were released in France national kit as part of the France Super Champions range of Headliners.

Zvonimir Boban player for AC Milan for 10 years and was an obvious choice for inclusion in this range. The sculpt is the same one Corinthian have used for many subsequent releases of this player. It is certainly worth mentioning the detail and work that went into this figure, as his beard is very realistic due to the rough texture and feeling of it.

Savicevic is by far the rarest of the AC Milan figures and he is also one of the smallest figures ever made. He was released in July of 1997 as part of the second wave of figures along with Dugarry, this has made him much harder to find.
All were released as single blisters, which came with collector card and information file. There were also 2 version of a 4 pack produced, 4 pack A contains Zvonimir Boban, Franco Baresi, Roberto Baggio and Demetrio Albertini, while pack B had Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta, Marcel Desailly and George Weah.

You will notice the 3 not in the 4 packs are also the rarest 3 from the AC Milan collection, those being Dugarry, Rossi and Savicevic, these were manufactured in lower numbers than the others.

A very fine set and a shame we never saw a 12th figure released, as if we had then we may have been treated to a 12 player pack.
