WORLD STARS 98
The World was gripped by World Cup fever, with Corinthian capitalising on this by releasing WORLD STARS 98 in May 1998, a set of 6 figures released as single blisters packs, each coming with a collector card.

Alan Shearer in England away kit, with the figure being the same as the Sainsburys redemption figure. The Zinedine Zidane for France and Filippo Inzaghi for Italy were both re releases, having featured for their respective nations releases some months earlier.
Andreas Moller in Borussia Dortmund kit was the same the one featured in the Star Kickers series. The Gabriel Batistuta however was a new figure, the Fiorentina kit differed to the one already released in the Superstars range and is one of my favourite kit replications, such a vibrant paint job.

Completing the set is Ronaldo, who at the time was at the height of his powers and popularity, with his figure being highly anticipated. Ronaldo was planned to be released as part of the second wave of Superstars, however it was cancelled, so this was the very first release of the Brazilian legend.

The figures had the same codes stamped on their bases as they did for the other ranges they had previously
appeared in, however Corinthian did give them new collector codes, starting with WOR.

A great set of figures with a superb blister pack design, 6 genuine world class players, making it a very desirable set.
