SOUTHAMPTON 1995/96

Southampton, or the Saints as they are nicknamed, had 9 figures released as part of the FAPL Collection.

Their manager at the time was Graham Souness, who was released in his suit and also sporting his trademark moustache. This figures is one of the rarest managers released, a loose figure can fetch good money with a blister been very much in demand and valuable.

Saints legend Matt Le Tissier was an obvious choice for release and Corinthian used the same sculpt as the England national headliner. Due to the popularity of this figure amongst Saints fans more of him was made than any other Southampton figure and as a result he is very easily found today and can be picked up very cheaply too.

Eccentric keeper Bruce Grobbelaar was also released and like manager Souness he was also sporting a rather fetching moustache! Along with the figures of Jim Magilton and Francis Benali, he is fairly common. That can not be said for Ken Monkou, who gets harder to find with each passing year, and the blister pack is hardly ever seen for sale.

Neil Shipperley and Neil Heaney were released towards the end of this range and were also produced in lesser quantities than the others and as a result they are very seldom seen for sale nowadays, with their blister packs being up there in terms or rare blisters from the FAPL Collection, neither Shipperley or Heaney were released by Corinthian again.

The mullet haired Barry Venison completes this range, the Venison is the exact same sculpt that was released previously as part of the England national range of figures and is a rare figure but do feel he falls behind the likes of Souness, Monkou and both Neils. A very collectable set and a few of them are still on collectors wanted lists today.

All figures were released as a single blister pack, coming with collector cards and a collectors information file.

Corinthian also released 2 different Southampton 4 packs, these 4 packs are extremely rare.
